In 1982 Dave Singleton was brought in to head sales and marketing while Paul Brown was to design the next generation of Reeboks. Along with Paul came further investment in equipment and product.  

Daybreak for JD and all the other Freds (2000-2007)

At our first meeting John had made it clear that he wanted to court JD with footwear.  That was his reason for committing to the footwear project!

Within two weeks, bob had done it!  Stella group, then making Timberland eurohikers and millions of Nine West shoes agreed, we were off. I leapt on a plane with the prototypes and the next round of designs, met Stanley at the airport and a day after leaving the UK we were watching shoes roll off the sample line and two weeks later the production line. I flew back to the UK content that we had a business.

Summer of ’99 I got an invitation to meet up with David Makin of JD Sports, I hadn’t spoken to him since the early ‘80’s when I had been developing special makeups of Reebok Royales for them.
